Android Call Tracking: Turn Work Calls Into Better Follow-Ups
Connect eligible work-SIM call activity to your CRM, verify synchronization, and give every useful conversation a clear follow-up.
For many sales teams, the important conversation still happens on a phone. The difficulty comes afterwards: the call exists on the device, the lead exists in the CRM, and the next action lives in someone’s memory.
Android call tracking can help connect those pieces. But a call record is evidence of activity, not a complete account of the conversation. A reliable process combines captured call details with a short note and a deliberate next step.
Decide which work activity belongs in the CRM
Convertly’s Android companion tracks eligible cellular call activity on the selected work SIM after enrollment. It is not a way to capture every communication on a phone.
Personal-SIM calls, calls whose SIM identity cannot be resolved, and internet calls are outside that capture path. WhatsApp messaging is a separate integration; a WhatsApp call is not the same as a cellular call on the work SIM.
Before enrolling a device, explain the intended tracking to the user, confirm the organization’s policy, and identify the correct work SIM. On a dual-SIM phone, this selection deserves particular attention.
Test the connection before depending on it
A workspace Admin creates the intended user’s pairing code from Integrations → Android phones. The user then completes enrollment in Settings → Call tracking in the Android app, including the work-SIM selection and required disclosure and permission steps.
Use the Android download offered by your signed-in workspace. Pairing codes are temporary and user-bound; do not use another teammate’s code as a shortcut.
Once enrolled, make an agreed test call and check the expected record in the web Calls list. Confirm the workspace, user, time, and lead relationship where available. A phone appearing connected does not prove that every call has synchronized.
Add the part a call log cannot know
Direction, time, duration, and available status help establish what happened. They do not tell your team what the customer needs or whether the conversation moved the sale forward.
After a useful call, record a concise note with:
- The main requirement or question.
- What you agreed to provide or confirm.
- The next action, its owner, and its due time.
For example: “Customer wants the setup requirements before deciding. Send the agreed information, then call on Friday.” Keep unnecessary personal details out of the note.
Avoid treating call duration as a qualification score. A long call may be helpful, unresolved, or unrelated to a buying decision. Read it alongside the lead context.
Handle missing activity methodically
A missing record is not automatically evidence that someone did not call. Connectivity, Android background restrictions, revoked permissions, or a force-stopped app can delay synchronization.
Check the selected SIM and tracking status first. Then check network access, the call time, and the date and device filters in the web app. The companion can queue metadata while offline and retry when conditions allow, so distinguish delayed activity from a completed sync.
If you need support, share a safe timestamp and the visible status rather than a full customer call log. Do not assume call recordings are uploaded: recording availability depends on supported phone or provider behavior.
Build the next step into the routine
A missed call can create work, but not every missed or unanswered attempt needs the same response. Review the lead, then schedule a suitable callback or use a tested automation for the relevant cases.
When someone changes phones or should stop tracking, use the tracking disconnection controls. Signing out of the interactive CRM session is not the same action.
Start with one work phone, verify the capture, and agree on a simple note-and-follow-up habit before expanding. The Android call tracking guide covers setup and troubleshooting. For a repeatable callback process, read missed-call follow-ups.
