Import Leads From CSV
Lead import is available to Admin, Manager, and Sales roles. Staff users cannot import or export leads.
Before importing
Section titled “Before importing”- Export a backup from the previous system.
- Use CSV format; convert spreadsheet files to CSV first.
- Keep one header row and consistent column values.
- Remove unnecessary columns and sensitive data that does not belong in the CRM.
- Use approved source and stage labels where possible.
The import screen displays current file, row, column, and cell limits. Split large files instead of attempting to bypass those limits.
Import workflow
Section titled “Import workflow”- Open Leads -> Import.
- Choose the CSV file.
- Review the detected columns and preview rows.
- Map columns to built-in or configured custom fields.
- Review errors, skipped rows, and warnings.
- Confirm the import.
- Review the browser summary before leaving the page.
Uploaded CSV data is processed for the import and is not retained as a raw uploaded file.
Assignment behavior
Section titled “Assignment behavior”Imported leads are created unassigned. This avoids sending thousands of accidental assignment alerts or attributing imported records to the person running the import. Assign records intentionally after reviewing the result.
Duplicate and validation behavior
Section titled “Duplicate and validation behavior”Rows may fail, be skipped, or generate a warning when required identity data is missing, values are too large, or fields cannot be normalized. The final summary separates successful rows from failed, skipped, and warning rows.
Attribution fields
Section titled “Attribution fields”Click IDs and UTM values can be imported when they are present in the source file and mapped to supported fields. Import alone does not dispatch advertising conversion events. A later supported CRM milestone may queue an event if the integration mapping and lead data allow it.
Exporting leads
Section titled “Exporting leads”Lead export uses the active Leads page filters and exports all matching records across result pages. Checkbox selection is not the export scope. Exported values are made spreadsheet-safe to reduce formula-injection risk.
